These children include Maddox (6), Zahara (3), Shiloh (2), and Pax (4), who were all adopted from different countries. When asked about the movie “Tree of Life,” Jolie admitted that she would not be the best person to explain it, but that it has an existential theme and portrays a nuclear 1950s family with Pitt playing the role of a strong father.

I asked Jolie about the help she’s getting and she said that no one is allowed to spend the night. To her, he was more of a dad who loved architecture and travel than an actor. Jolie hoped that he would focus more on architecture, even though he wasn’t an architect himself. She had seen him work with partners to design hotels and studios, and collaborate with other architects to refurbish a shotgun house with green architecture, teaching her a lot about the importance of the homes we live in.

We later discussed her involvement with refugees over a meal at the restaurant downstairs from the lobby. Jolie recounted how her experience filming “Tomb Raider” in Cambodia led her to understand the world’s problems and make several trips with the U.N. to countries such as Pakistan and Sierra Leone.
